In the premodern ages, the world’s leading essays are the travels of Marco Polo, Journey by Ibn Battuta, and A Record of Drifting Across the Sea(Choi Bu’s Diary, Pyohaerok) by Choi Bu. A Record of Drifting Across the Sea(Choi Bu’s Diary, Pyohaerok) is a special because of not only a journal of travel but also adventure in the sea of East China. The Ming Dynasty used policy of seclusion different with the Yuan Dynasty. So A Record of Drifting Across the Sea(Choi Bu’s Diary, Pyohaerok) is a unique record about a south part of the Ming and attention of them to the outside of the Ming.
